Wake up your Switch with the controller by ensuring it's in Bluetooth mode, wirelessly paired with the Switch, and pressing the home button.

The Ultimate Software supports the Ultimate Bluetooth Controller. Download the software from the 8BitDo website for more information. For stable connectivity, plug the receiver into the dock and connect it to the PC via USB cable. This setup is better than plugging the receiver directly into the PC.
